panning wrong way

When I was going through the mixing tutorial on version beta 40b12 osx, I noticed the panning was reversed on the output. (left was right and right was left) I was listening through the mac built in audio out and yes the headphones were on correctly.
Is this a bug? Anyone else notice this?
