how to trigger MIDI with a pad, but no serial connect?

How do you trigger Live via MIDI through USB?

Live requires OMS 2.3.8, but I have a G3 Powerbook with no serial modem or serial printer connection. OMS does not let you find MIDI devices that are connected via USB.

I connect MIDI via USB with the Emagic MT4 - Live does not recognize any MIDI input via USB. Is there a way around this?

Hi - thanks for your email about free midi - I tried this, but it doesn't see, to work. I downloaded the latest FreeMidi, which says it has USB drivers. When I run FreeMidi, it says "no ports available for configuration."

There doesn't seem to be a way for OMS or FreeMidi to find devices connected USB.
Any ideas?

thanks!

It´s not a problem at all to use OMS here. If you have installed the appropriate drivers for the MT4 , run the OMS setup (the MT4 must be connected...) and save this setup (make it "current"). You´ll be able then to use the MT4 with all OMS compatible programs...
Feel free to drop me line if you still have problems here...
