still happening..

when you save a set it includes .als to the highlighted selection..

so

Untiled.als is highlighted/selected as a whole, so you can't start to type right away cause it'll delete .als..
first have to select Untitled only, then type..

Yes, that´s really annoying,

Not sure if I understand that.
Even if you enter a name without .als extension Live should always add that extension. It should not longer be possible to save a set via "Save as" with .als extension.

Is that still an issue for you in Live 8.0b15?

Yes, it´s still an issue. I try to explain.

When you "save as" in L7 xxx-y.als appears highlited.
In L8 it is xxx-y.als.

Live7
You name a set xxx-1.als
next time you "save as" xxx-1.als will be highlited. So you can easily (with MacOsX) "save as", hit right arrow, hit delete once, enter new number, hit enter, done.
You now have a new version of the set: xxx-2.als
Repeat for further versions.

Live8
You name a set xxx-1.als
next time you "save as" xxx-1.als will be highlited.
Now you have to navigate around the .als in order to get to the "name" of the clip.

in that case, could you remove the .als from the default title suggestion?

if Live adds the .als to the document on system level anyway there's no need to add it in the save dialog..
its a bit confusing because you now suggest that a user has to make sure the extension is added..
