Upgrading from Live Delta.

Hey Everyone,

I bought some M-Audio hardware that came with Live Delta. Can I still get the 50% discount with Live 4? Or should I buy Live 3.04 and then get the $49 download upgrade?

Isn't Live 4 going to be released this month?

Please reply ASAP. Still deciding on what I should or could do.

Thanks,
Ryan

The $49 upgrade to 4 also applies if you purchased the DELTA > 3.04 upgrade. Lucky eh?

Hi, rmoat. Live 4 has just been released. :-)

Before buying Live 3 I asked the same question you did. The price to upgrade from Delta to 3 (as I did) is $200, then $50 to upgrade from 3 to 4. To go straight from Delta to 4 is $250. Fair deal either way around. (Prices above are for the downloadable version; for $30 more you can also get the manual and CD with some samples and loops.)

But remember... the manual PDF and sample loops are downloadable too.

PDF manual, yes -- but my understanding is that the full CD's worth of loops is available only with the physical fulfillment, not the d/l. If you buy the CD-paper manual package, you get your serial number right away so you can snag the downloadable to use until the package arrives. That's convenient. But I seem to recall someone at ableton saying the big batch o' samples wasn't in the d/l.

Can anyone confirm or disprove this? It'll make a difference to me. :-) I'd pay $30 more for book plus loops, but not just for the book.

Ah, found info. From the feature list page:
__________________________

- Selection of royalty-free loops and samples from Big Fish Audio*
- Built-in program tutorials and starter sets
- Printed reference manual*
- Multilingual program help and PDF manual in English, Japanese, German, French and Spanish

* Available in Live 4 boxed version only.

Looks like with the downloadable version you get drum samples, maybe some loops for tutorials, but not the Big Fish loops. Righty, I'll probably shell out an extra $30 for that. It'll be that much longer before there's a decent pair of nearfields in this place, but hey... :-D
