Mach Five Workaround

Plogue Bidule is a modular building block type program that is free for download at this point in time and hosts both AU and VST's.

Using Plogue Bidule I've been able to set up a simple ReWire rack to use my Mach Fives. You need to select the Plogue Bidule Device in the "Audio From" tab in Live, where ReWire devices normally show up. The key thing is that you don't want to use Plogue's ReWire'd Midi services. Instead, after Plogue is launched, Bidule 1-4 will show in the Midi preferences in Live. These are what you want to use to send Midi to Plogue. So when you hook up your M5's in Plogue get a "Bidule 1-4(in)" from the Midi Devices and leave the Midi Splitter that's connected to "Bidule ReWire unconnected. Those are what to connect to your M5's.

This gives you 16 channels on each port, so you can set up 4 Mach Fives with all 16 channels. Using ReWire, Plogue and Live were having trouble, the Mach Five only shows up with Ch. 1 in Plogue and the next Ch./instance was getting confused when trying to wire in from Ch. 2 on up.

For help setting up Plogue and ReWire there was a PDF somewhere floating around I got on OSXaudio.com or check the plogue website, it refers to ReWire and ProTools but the application is the same.

This has been working great for me so far.
