Hi,
I'm thinking of getting the aluminium 13-inch MacBook to run Ableton, Traktor and hook it up to my Xone 4D. For info, I'm using XP on and old shonky Tosh Laptop.

I'm looking at the 2.0GHz model with 2GB RAM. I've never used a Mac before and upto now I've been a 'PC' !

Anyone reccomend this purchase or otherwise?

Thanks
Toro.

I run the 2ghz 13-inch aluminum macbook with Live 7, and I have absolutely no issues with it. For what you described, this machine is plenty.

It's in your best interest to run 4gb of ram if your budget permits.

definately on the 4GB RAM - I have one of these and now it runs like a dream; 2GB was a struggle when playing live.
My problem is that soon I want to run a multi-out interface with it, and there is no Firewire... as long as you're happy with a USB interface you will be fine. They are great machines otherwise. I currently use an Edirol UA-25 and its rock solid.

I just picked up the new Mac Book, I went for a 2.4 and then got an extra 2 gig of RAM from Crucial (cost me like £54) - the machine performs superbly. I use it for Traktor and Ableton. I had Ableton install on my old 3.1 Mac Book Pro and it runs MUCH quicker on the mew Mac Book. It has a really small footprint as well so this is great! :)
