Hello, likely I found a bug in Auto Filter. With certain settings, its LFO not only affects the filter, but also the Panorama of the respective track.


Please replicate it by setting up a set as follows:

Create New Set.

Create MIDI or Audio track (= track 1).

Place any material on Track 1 and loop it.

Add an auto filter on track 1 (as an insert FX).

Select these settings for the auto filter:
Sidechaining-> Off
Envelope-> Off
Any filter type
Freq-> Highest
Q-> Lowest
Quantize beat-> Off
LFO Amount-> Max
LFO Shape-> Any of the first six
Rate-> anything well audible, perhaps 0.25 Hz
Phase-> 180°

Now play your looped material (with the auto filter switched on, of course).
You should be able to hear the LFO not only affecting the filter, BUT THE PANORAMA AS WELL, which is not supposed to be the case.

Can anyone confirm that behavior ?

i think this has always been the case.
can you check in an earlier version of Live?

Doesn't the pan here depend on the phase/spin knob value and the associated phase/spin selector in the Auto Filter LFO? No change from L7 there, I think...

I tried the same set in Live 6.0.11.
The "unexpected" behavior is there, too.
But I think the LFO/S&H should only affect the filter, not the pan.
For pan mod there is the pan pot... (does this sound intelligent ?)

The rest of the LFO controls affect the filter, but I've always assumed the purpose of the stereo phase control is to apply controllable phase differences between the two stereo channels. It's not really a pan control per se, but often that's how you perceive it when listening. You can get some nice effects especially when used subtly, effects which would take a lot of pan automation and splitting into two tracks, I guess, to achieve with just pan controls.

By the way, the LFO in Corpus now contains much more detailed info text for the phase control (this detailed info is still missing from the auto filter LFO controls) - might help...

Indeed, the LFO is "stereo" and with the Phase parameter, you get a different filtering on each side of the signal, giving some stereo effect. Turn Phase to 0 degrees if you don't want a stereo effect, and save that as a default if you never want a stereo effect.

I'll move the thread away as there is no bug to be seen here.
