Hi,
I am brand new to live. woohoo! My question is, is there a function that controls how many times a clip can loop. I want the clip to loop for instance and but only five times.
Thanks for your help and patience with a newbie.

yeah, suprised that didn't get put in for Live 8 (or 7 for that manner).

Seems like it would be a fairly basic enhancement (coming from someone who knows *nothing* about programming)

I believe people will respond that you can do it with 'follow actions'. I haven't actually done this yet.

you've never used it? it's an amazing feature!!

yes, follow actions. there's nothing to add in Live 8 for this.

OP - keep the help box open as you're learning Live, it's in the lower left corner of the GUI, it's a huge help in learning Live, also check out the videos in the download section of the Ableton site.

Thanks so much. Exactly what I was looking for. I have another question though. Can you change the speed of the metronome with out changing the speed of the music in a clip? I just want to slow down the metronome so I can make my drum beat perfect but it slows the drum beat down. Hmmmm....
Once again thanks for all your help.

^ but then the metronome wouldn't be in time with the drums, eh? But I guess you could halve the speed of the metronome so that it's still in time with the drums, but at half rate. To to this, halve your global tempo and then hit the :2 button in the clip's warp settings.

Tone, I agree I am way overdue for learning Follow Actions.

I still think it would be nice if right in the loop section they had a 'loop x amount of times; then release' and/or 'loop x amount of times; then stop' functionality.
