Transient Subtraction Gate (Live 8)
Transient Subtraction Gate (Live 8)
Just fell upon a cool way to take away the initial transient of a beat/etc.
1) Create 2 tracks playing the same drum clip (audio) set to Beats warp mode with Transient selected and transient Loop mode set to 'off' so the transients play forward once and stop (I love this mode).
2) put a utility on a track with left and right phase reversed.
3) on the same track you have the Utility plugin, bring down the Transient envelope to 60-70 or so.
The initial transient is phased out, leaving just the rhythmic post-transient beautiful junk.
As a follow up, it's nice to take the groove from the drum and create an electric drum kit, so you have electro snare and kick with for instance acoustic drum ambience.
Lots more to do here, like play with delays, reverbs etc, try with guitars, other instruments.
Todo for someone smarter than me: Max for Live: create some effects based on transient detection.

Somehow similar to using a gate with a high attack setting.

"Beat" warping mode, then transients. Looping mode to forward, setting the length to smaller values.Grappadura wrote:What transient stuff in l8?Clearscreen wrote:no - it uses the transient stuff in live 8...Aequitas123 wrote:and can you do this with v7?
