Ableton Forum

There are many good options out there. I want to know what other Ableton peeps are using since I want to see which one I should explore more and get comfortable with. Do you just use it as a plug-in(with midi) or are you drumming the pattern with the use of triggers and stuff like that? How is your set-up? Do any of you use drum converters such as the new one from ToonTrack or Drumagog?

I am sure there are better programs, I am just a creature of habit and have been using reason since day 1. I think RMX would be my next drum app though....

not to boot your post but if you want battery i have my copy i just unregistred from ni for resell 2 dvds + manual and reg card only asking 125.00 for it.

I'm using Battery 3, a Novation Drumstation and an Alesis D4. Battery is my fav. I can't bring myself to sell the Novation and the Alesis D4. I kinda still like them. They're like my children, I've had them for many years. But Battery really does the job well.

I started with just Reason about 6 or 7 years ago. I'm so used to using it. It's fucking simple as shit to use. Make a simple loop in Redrum then print it to the sequencer. Tweak in the sequencer then record it in DP. Now, I have fallen in love with Live and drum racks and it feels like almost the same process. So now, I rarely use Reason. However, Im still in love with Scream, it's my number 1 drum effect.

I have Battery and I like it but it's just a little more troublesome to set up. I get stuff from all 3. The others I never use. I'm a drummer so I don't need those realistic sounding drum programs. If I want real drums, I play them.

Drum racks for me. I thought they were the killer app personally in Live 7. Everything about them is just totally cool and useable

I like using Battery 3 and also Live's drum racks. Both provide adequate coverage for programming and sound design.

Battery 3 and Drum Racks mainly. Addicitive Drums if i want acoustic sounds. I also have Stylus RMX but haven't opened it in over a year. I should check out that update.

Addictive Drums is horrible. Please don't use it. I use it on everything and my tracks sound great. If you use it then your tracks may sound great too and my secret will be lost. So....dont use it, its terrible.

I put "other" for Drum Racks. It's Addictive Drums for acoustics, Drum Racks for samples/loop chopping.

Having said that, I'm still highly anticipating Guru2, if it comes out in my lifetime. If not I'm still looking at Maschine also...

From the list, I'm partial to BFD - and use Reason Drums when writing in Reason.

That said, I've gotten some of my most fluid and convincing drum parts out of Rayzoon's Jamstix - I've been able to fool even a couple of drummers with it!

I'll put in a thumbs up for Jamstix too. While I use Superior 2 for my kit, I use Jamstix all the time for laying down basic grooves. I would start with Jamstix before anything because their kits are not bad and you get the drummer with it.
