hi all.
apparently LIVE was developed by folks who are mostly into experimental/ambient/idm (etc etc etc) musics.
this is usually the style of music that i create. just wondering what styles everybody creates using LIVE. as for microsounds/minimalism/glitch music, anybody have any interesting production techniques/habits?
the challenge i usually face is trying to keep the sounds palette as minimal, yet as interesting as possible. it's often quite difficult to keep things under control when we have so many dsp tools out there.

No! We like many kinds and flavors of musics from all over the galaxy, and certainly not just electronic music. We spend wednesday afternoons, some of us do, lying in the Ableton pastures, listening in the breeze to grass rubbing against grass.

anybody have any interesting production techniques/habits?the challenge i usually face is trying to keep the sounds palette as minimal, yet as interesting as possible.

The only challenge is to make something beautiful.

i am one of those musically diverse homeboyz d' electronique.
nothing rocks harder than RUSH and Steely Dan!
as for the minimal stuff, blades of grass rubbing on blades of grass sounds nice.
i wonder if there are any LIVE users out there who are laying down banjo loops over dobro and fiddle? i think bluegrass LIVE sessions would be incredible! or how about real-time mixing of mic'd throat singers?

keep up the good work ableton. it has been awhile since an old head like me has been totally blown away by such great technology. ableton has definitely blown a fresh breathe of air onto the production scene!

my current technique to work with live is to deconstruct sounds.
create -> play -> deselect -> insert silence -> melt

Anybody who thinks Live can only do ambient/electronica/etc is making a SERIOUS mistake! The greatest limitation that Live users face is their expectation of what "laptop" music should be...YOU CAN MAKE IT DO WHAT YOU WANT. I did a gig last night at an art gallery in London, there was another laptop user on the bill, pretty quiet unobtrusive stuff, then I was on later with big guitars and lotsa noise...it was loud...we both got what we wanted...

Maybe Ableton could help with people's perceptions by encouraging diversity on the site with tutorials, interviews etc...don't be put in a neat little box, Ableton kids!
