Basically, if you drag any track longer than a minute or two into Live (a song, that is), Live can usually detect the BPM correctly, but it never figures out where to place the starting point or the first warp marker.
This is a really old bug which everybody knows about and just deals with by now; it'd be nice to finally get this fixed in Live8. Even a modest improvement in the heuristic used to detect the first beat would be a welcome improvement.

I moved the thread away from the bugs forum as there is no technical bug there. This is a pending improvement, but it is not that trivial, and we may or may not succeed, so, I can't commit on it.
