Anyone else watch the Rough Trade documentary on the BBC?

Well worth a watch no matter what kind of music you're in to.

They're attitude to music and the way they ran the business was unique to say the least, though led to their downfall in the end. Maybe most interesting for them pretty much creating the independent (ie non-major) music industry in the UK. Hard to imagine a time when we didn't have small labels putting out releases and having major hits, but before Rough Trade it just didn't happen.

any way to watch this online?

I saw this the other week. I've always understood what rough trade were about but this is the first time I've actually heard the full story.

THe UK always looks so grim in the 60s and 70s?

The night I saw it they had a load of old BBC performance stuff of Rough Trade acts on after. I can't say I liked it all but it was still interesting to see.

Its probably still available on iPlayer, if you're in the UK or can get round their IP detection.

Otherwise, I'm sure its up on some of the torrent sites though I haven't looked for it.

Loved the ethos, hated the bands, apart from Robert Wyatt.
