Live 8 Suite Install issues

I encountered two issues installing Live 8. My previous install was Live 8 beta28; and Live 7.0.15.
Before installing, I made sure that the last beta was uninstalled and everything in Live 7.0.15 was OK.
This install is the Live 8.0.1 Suite that I just purchased and downloaded.
The first issue was the Library location. It asked if I wanted to select a new location and I did; so I was about to use the preferences to make the library selection, but instead it went ahead and created a new location. I was expecting it to wait until I chose one in preferences. Since this library is so large, I would prefer to pick the location and have it wait - not copy it twice.
After the install made that library I moved it to the place I wanted.
The second issue is that there are some missing folders in 'Defaults'. Only 'Slicing' is there,
no Dropping Samples, etc.
I copied the ones from my old library and it seems to work.

Hello,
I guess there were leftovers (Preferences) from the beta in your system.
Best,

Perhaps, but I uninstalled all the Beta versions, went into the Application Data folders and deleted the
beta files, and did a registry scan for 'Live' and deleted a bunch of records. It was a fairly thorough
cleaning before the install.

Hi,
I had this exact same problem.
I still have several betas installed, but I do not think that is the problem, because Live 8 copies its install preferences (in general) from Live 7. L8.01 certainly ignored my beta installs, because the skin and template after install was that of L7.14.
On the install of Live 8.01 I had no chance to select my real Live 8 library and Live 8.01 started immediately installing content to Documents & Settings/username/someboguslibrarylocation .
I should say that during the beta I never used that '/documents & settings' location for my library, my library location for Live 8 is 'Y:/Live 8 library', and has been for a
very long time.
Of course, Live 7 did not know anything about this library, so although the 8.01 installer does show a 'choose your library' screen ... at the same time it starts to install the new content into 'documents & settings/username/etc'
I canceled that library install, went to preferences and set my correct library location and then restarted Live.
It seemed to update the packages correctly, although it's hard to tell if anything was missed.

I am encountering lots of problems with the Live 8 Suite installation.
The session drum expansion package and the session drums midi grooves packages version 8.1 do not install.
These are the files named: SessionDrumsExpansion_v8.1_Update.alp and SessionDrumsMIDIGrooves_v8.1_Update.alp
from the livepacks web page.
If I use my Live 7 version and install them and then install these versions - they do nothing but report that they are up to date.
The 'Default Packages' folder on the Live 8 Suite disk 1 has a large number of packages that do not install:
The Alto Flute, Bass Clarinet, Bassoon section, Bassoon Solo, ... the list goes on and on.
It looks as if the EIC2 on the Live 8 Suite DVD is not made properly.
I already reported that the Woodwinds need the old woodwind repair tool.
When I load Live 7.0.15 and look at it's library (a completely different library) I see that the EIC2 AltoSax is missing (not reported) in Live 8.0.1 Suite's Library.
All that being said, the Live 8 Library looks fairly good after all that. I'll make a closer inspection and see if there is anything missing.
My earlier Live 7 library is quite large and somewhat different looking, so it will be difficult to compare.

I also share part of the previous poster's issue.
I downloaded the Session Drums but when I attempt to install them, I get an error:
The installation could not be completed.
Session Drums Expansion: Live Pack is an upgrade pack that can only be installed on top of an older version of the same pack.
Session Drums MIDI Grooves: Live Pack is an upgrade pack that can only be installed on top of an older version of the same pack.
I've owned the whole Suite since version 6.

After installing the Live 8 Suite DVD on my PC I got this library setting:
After installing the Live 8 Suite DVD on my MAC Book Pro, under the same conditions, I got this setting:
Obviously, the install generates differences.

On the PC Live 8 Suite doesn't install the EIC2 LE instruments, but they are installed OK on the Mac using the same DVDs.
The samples are loaded, but not the presets for any LE instrument. They are installed OK on the Mac.
I re-installed the EIC-LE.alp and it reported that it was already installed.
The Grand Piano does not play any sounds and one of it's samples (EIC2 Grand Piano-Grand Piano-2.aif)is not loaded.
The same preset plays fine on the Mac.
The Jazz Organ has no Slow samples loaded, just the Fast samples.
The Mac preset has both.
The PC is WinXP SP3, the Mac is an MacBookPro OSX 10.5.6.
