After working on beta testing and seeing bugs not fixed in reports and now seeing all the bugs popping up on the released version..
I'm wondering...
Did Ableton Release Live 8 too soon before they fixed all the bugs?..
What do other think here

Looking at the number of Live 8 bugs topics in this forum it is still looking like a beta to me..I would have thought a couple of weeks of testing a final release candidate before going to market but what do I know?

For serious work I will continue to use Live 7.0.15, but I think this is about the right time to release Live 8. You can never get all the bugs until it gets seriously stressed in multiple situations/hardwares.
The first releases of Live 6 and 7 were in a similar state and took a few updates before they matured.

there has hardly ever been a software release without bugs. if they spent all their time to clean up every bug in the program, the program would NEVER be released. The question is whether or not the level of bugs present is acceptable for a release. I think live 8 may be a BIT too early but I also dont think I could have waited that much longer for it to come out already

The problem with the whole software industry..
It gets people uses to the fact that we never get a complete finished product...
There are always new bugs here and there and we except that "Oh they are working on it."
But we put out OUR MONEY we should expect a product without bugs like we are getting from a released product.. If you buy a car that turns out to be a lemon, We have lemon laws in the states to protect the consumer.. But not the case with software There are no protections for the consumer if we buy buggy software..
I now can't even get live 8 now to Scan all of my VST directory without crashing and I didn't have the same problem with beta version or Live 7..
can we request a refund of our money?
NO WADADA for Ableton on this release of Live 8 Way too soon!!!

I don't mind a slightly buggy release, the real problem is when the fixes take ages to get released. Big fixes should really happen within days of them being discovered.

i can't automate vst synths...so yes, it was released too soon. If this gets fixed by monday or tuesday then i think Live 8 will be off to a great start.

I'd literally pay the same upgrade fee to be able to take the new project I've struggled creating in Live 8 due to crashes back to Live 7. Live 7.0.1 did not have near this many bugs and crashes. It was a relatively seamless transition from 6. You could at least do basic things that Live 8 is crashing on (i.e. duplicate a large portion of time with many tracks, effects and clips, etc)

P.S. I've kept a crash tally and about an hour ago I surpassed crash #100. And I just started using Live 8.0.1 last night! So yes, needless to say, it was released far too soon in my opinion.

Well, after trying the demo I wonder if it wouldn't had been a better idea to upgrade from my Live LE to Live 7 before the release of version 8. Now I have to wait till v8 is usable.

Judging by the number of outstanding bug reports when they released it and the number that have been filed since, I'd say they jumped the gun by a few weeks at minimum. If the reports of there being boxed versions at retailers a few days ago, if there are any DVD's in those boxes (rather than just serial numbers) they must contain a beta version from a good few weeks ago. Bottom line is they released it when they needed the cash flow rather than when it was ready.
I don't remember it being like this when Live 7 was released, that was pretty stable for me and I don't recall masses of bug reports.

I must be one of the few thats actually not having any problems. In fact version 7.15 and previous was very unstable for me. Live 8 has been great so far - though i havent really tested it to extremes just yet.
