Template for Recording....I need suggestions please.

Hello All, Greetings, Salutations....
I use Ableton Live 6 to record my song demos.
I record guitar, bass, drums, synth and vocals.
I DI my guitar and use amp sims VSTs (amplitube, guitar rig, etc).
I DI my bass and use amp sims VSTs(ampeg, etc)
For drums I use EZDrummer and Addictive Drums VSTs.
For synth I use various VSTs
I would like some suggestions for setting up some audio mixing inserts for each track, for example...What kind of EQ or compressors/limiters for drums? for guitars? etc. And any other basic tips to make the demos sound good.
I would like to have a simple set-up that I can use all the time for recording quality demos, so I can spend more time writing and less time mixing/mastering.
If there are any online articles out there, I would be grateful to receive a link.
If it helps any, the music I am writing is kinda like early Cure, Joy Division, Bauhaus.
Thanks for your help!
