Is there a reason Complex Pro cannot be selected in the prefs as Default Warp Mode?

from what i know (which aint much to be honest)

it is not offered as a default as it is so cpu intensive

when i was beat testing - using complex pro would whack my cpu rate up so high that i ended up never using it - im interested to see how cpu intensive it is in the live 8 release

Hello,

yes, we have decided against this option because the complex pro mode puts quite a considerable load on your CPU. If you are a long-time Live user, you probably know how much impact the older complex mode had on a G4 or Pentium IV processor. You'll now get similar results with the complex pro mode on a modern laptop. Also, having the pro mode selected as your default warp mode does not make much sense in most cases, performance-wise and also sound-quality-wise. "Complex" or "complex pro" does not always mean "best quality" in this context. I'd only use the complex modes if all other warp modes fail.

Best,
Nico

It only really matters when using Live to DJ. In which case I can always multi-select clips and change them all at once.

Thanks for the info!

Brian

Does anyone else get a crash if complex pro is selected and you try to consolidate say a half bar portion of the clip? Happens repeatedly for me. I have to consolidate first with beats and then set it to complex pro.

Live 8.0.1
Mac Pro 8 core, 16GB RAM
OS X 10.5.6
