hi there, maybe someone is ableto(n) help me?

what i want:

- recording a clip in session view
- while recording the last bar kick the foot pedal
- live goes on playing without recording
- clip is loopable (complete bars)

what i don´t want:

- stopping the sequencer by foot pedal
- assign the foot pedal to a new clip each time i record

i use a mackie control which has a ZOOM button.
this button does exactly what i want!
i don´t know what it is sending, it´s part oft the mackie control protocol and connected to live as a control surface.

all i want is to have the function of mackies ZOOM button on a foot pedal!

i can assign any data to my foot pedal over the korg pad control.
but what does it has to send? or where shall i assign it to by midi learn?

any idea?

thanks for reading - saxer

Map your pedal to clip start, and two more to scene up and down. Job done no?

one click starts recording, another click stop and loops play, set global to 1 bar and your clip quantize to global.

hm... scene up an down... you mean in midi assign mode the up/down arrows in the master channel? the don´t stop recording. or am i wrong?

what i´m looking for is this general workflow, not for a specific clip, track or scene: playing with both hands while recording in session view and having a pedal to stop the recording, but not the sequencer.
am i the only one looking for that?
it´s mostly like the new loop mode, but general.

Yes, but when you are recording you ARE recording in a specific track, clip and scene because thats how live works in session view right?

So, you just map your foot controls to the clip start/stop you want to control.

Here's how i used to do it in Live 7:

Part 2

i saw your clips... thanks for the link!

but thats not what i´m looking for. you have an extra pedal for each clip.

what i need, ist a general toggle switch between record and play for ANY clip i select.

i use a mackie control as control surface.
the zoom-button on the mackie control is exactly doing it:

select any slot on a rec-track: press button - records a clip / press button again - plays that clip from next bar.
select a new slot: same function!
but how do i get this function to a pedal?

boska is right. You need to translate midi to keystroke and assign to 'return.
Bome's midi translator software is another much cheaper way to do it (unfortunately they have just discontinued the free version, but it is still cheap). Personally I am not very keen on Automap - I like my knobs to stay assigned to the same parameters no matter which plugin are open.
