How do Ableton really feel about this forum then?

Glad to see Dom pulled some dudes up today for shit slinging....well done Dom!!
However........
I would like to know why this forum is almost completely unmoderated. A few of my friends who use Ableton do not even visit here and participate within this community because of the manner in which fellow board members are allowed to treat them, and im talking within the last 4 years anyway.
I find this place can be a little threatening because when i post a problem or a request if i need to know something, more often than not i get ridiculed or just have the piss ripped out of me, so i just read, and hardly post that much unless i have to... it usually always ends up a slanging match anyway.
So how is this benefiting the Ableton community if its members are refraining from posting decent questions, answers and replies because of a minority of people?
Some examples:
I chipped in to give advice on someone asking about building a studio once...and was told "Pics or STFU" I dont like being told to shut the fuck up by some dude who hides behind a computer screen.
I asked when i was posting under my real name a while back for help on chord progressions..and some dude called Mercyplease told me im a nothing and will never make good music.... = FAIL
A LOT of the time when i comment i get stupid replies that really do not help me at all.
It got so bad a year or so ago i started a new member account just so i did not have to give out my real name
This forum brings nothing extra to the community by being un-moderated.
Just yesterday that Tone Deft guy, who i thought wasnt so bad decided to post a reply to me trying to belittle....I thought he would know better since hes helped me in the past when ive had issues...and what was his point in his post? Because i should have beta tested v8, so like basically im not allowed to post if im having some problems.
Well guess what Tone Deft? I did not want to Beta Test v8. I dont feel i should have to if im shelling out money. I dont have time to work with anything else but a finnished article and if something is wrong then i will go to the appropriatte places and report it...then i will wait for it to get fixed in an update. Who do you think you are taking it upon yourself to belittle fellow forum members, thinking you are all high and mighty???
So what exactly are all you guys who are coming on here and actually doing, apart from ruining this forum and holding others back from getting involved more??
Not just me.....EVERY other post nearly has a stupid or sly remark in it from someone who just thinks they can hide behind a computer screen and slag everyone off...Its even happening in the Tips and Tricks section, a dude asks a question about a certain genre of music....and gets told its shit and nobody listens to it anyway...WTF is that about?
Could you actually be confident in recommending a new Ableton user to get involved on here...without pre-warning them?? I think not.
You know...i couldnt care any more, i really dont know why i bothered even typing this actually.
And just for the record. I think v8 is AMAZING and will be perfect with a few bug fixes. Just a pity the forum is an untidy mess where u get a load of abuse.
BIG FAIL....!!!
Would like to hear an official and honest Ableton opinion on how they feel this forum is, and why its okay to be treated so poorly by fellow users..all under the Ableton Banner???

Tone is only an ass on Mondays.
Every other day he's an outstanding member of this community.

Perhaps you don't have thick enough skin to be on the internet if you are offended by "Pics or STFU" or "FAIL".
These comments are almost always said with some air of jest and are not to be taken seriously.
How many times have you posted a serious inquiry and not been answered? The ONLY time you wouldn't be answered would be if its something that is asked everyday and the regulars just want you to try searching before you ask.
As someone who tries to answer peoples questions as much as i can, i know that it can be redundant. And sometimes a Pic is necessary to explain what is happening. "Pics or STFU" is just a way funnier way to say "Please post a pic so we can better serve you".

Hi
Sorry but i dont find "Pics or STFU" funny at all. I find it offensive, and ive read a few posts where the guy being told to STFU has reacted angrily to it.
Thanks

i think the poll question and the thread titel is chosen really really bad. i guess you know why and i already proved it today by slapping good old smutek.
i get what you mean if you take a look at the last 4 years, but i would be really surprised if you completely deny how much better it has become over the last 6 months or so.
cheers,
dom

2 things:
1. Being offended isn't an argument of any kind
2. You really aren't cut out for the intertubes if you are so easily offended. (No offense).

Dude, i'm sorry you feel this way.
I do my best to answer any and all noob questions that pop up when i can, even building custom racks and sets for people who need it. I've gotten ripped up by Tone plenty a times, but he's helped me way more times than he's jested me. so i have a special place in my heart for those guys because i feel like they really do care.
It does take time to get that relational buildup to make it "ok" and even "fun". Also, the first year of marriage generally is not the best. But it doesn't get better if you don't talk about it (most of the time), so that's why this is good too.
If i knew how to post a picture i would do that, but instead i'll offer a smiley

Humor and sarcasm are important...if we can't all get a laugh at something silly once in a while, it's all pointless, and while you may not dig Tone, he offers some good advice and viewpoints once in a while - anyone who balances the good with the bad is still a productive member of this forum...it's the profiles like bounce that offer nothing but degrading one-liners about topics they know nothing about that need to go (try looking at his "profile posts", it's clear he has nothing but contempt for everyone in this forum).
I have two profiles here, but I don't troll - sometimes I log in with one, sometimes I log in with another, but I'm not searching out people to fuck with, unlike bounce. That said, maybe Tone is bounce whenever Tone feels like being extra stinky, but who knows.
At any rate, moderate moderation is a good thing - when someone is being a total ass with nothing to offer, they should be outed and booted, but if someone with an attitude is at least making an honest attempt to put something back into the community, that attempt becomes part of the overall effort to make this a cool place, and makes those people worth working with.

1. I have to agree you may not be cut out for the intertubes.
2. I have been on this forum for over a year, I have asked noob questions, "advanced" questions, and even OT questions and have always gotten very helpful responses. I have never really had anyone respond to me in a mega-jerky fashion and I think part of it is understanding general forum culture (that applies to any forum), doing my research before posting, and asking clear concise questions.
In my opinion this is one of my fave forums b/c it's very helpful on a technical level, but also very fun b/c things get off topic in a way that resonates with me and is entertaining. Moderated forums can often be helpful, but lack the diverse responses that keep the participants as engaged as this one.
I do honestly think you are easily offended. I also think "RTFM" is a semi-jerky, but reasonable response for questions a google or forum search can answer faster than a post can be made. As for the "pics or stfu" again, jerky, but I think standard forum etiquette is to provide a picture example when referencing something visual - someone just took the piss.

Hi Dom.
If im being honest, i dont think it has changed "that" much. I still read tons of abuse every day by certain members in these pages.
Regarding the title of the topic. I want people to read it, and i asked Ableton a question how they felt about all the mud slinging going on.
Kind Regards

wow, more whining.
foogermooger you made a really dumb post totally contradicting yourself. I put your words back at you and you had no answer other than to whine even more. you really need to grow up.
here's your dumb post, and your reply, filled with name calling and childish behavior.

We all know its gonna take a few updates for it to be super stable. Im well impressed with the product so far, and i will glady persevere or at worst just install v7 and go with the flow until the next update is ready.
Happy days

the yearly taxation that the update cycle follows blows, $10 a month or whatever to use the product. it's my main hobby, so it's money that doesn't go into a fancy car, or snowboarding or traveling or whatever other hobbies guys get into.
but let me get this straight...
"i was busy with other shit."
so all of a sudden you have time to use Live 8?
"or at worst just install v7"
you don't have v7 installed??? you're not even fucking using v7? you're pissing about the forum over software you don't have time to use and don't use anyway?!?!
just curious.
Happy Days. weather's great here, window's open, nice breeze, heavy with the smell of bacon the wife is cooking up.
WTF???
Who do you think you are Tone Daft???
Ive been purchasing and using Ableton since v4. Beta tested most of them, but mow my work dictates and dont have time to beta test the product! I need to work with a finished article.
I spend about 30 hours a week in Ableton, would hardly say i dont use the product lol.
So i have been using v7 since it came out, only just uninstalled it
For you information i did a completely fresh install prior to loading v8 Suite because i intend to try solely using Ableton to see how i get on..
Why do you feel the need to come on here and moan, about us moaning? Youve been a good help to me when ive ever been stuck and asked for help on the forum, i never expected such an arsey response from you.
No need for someone like you to act like a dick, theres more than enough of em here already
Regards
the smutek drama is nothing. this kind of drama is just garbage. ignore this guy.
can we just move along? delete this!

A fail on so, so many levels.
