triple no....
did you watch it through? Thought it was pretty cool that you can nav like arrow keys, but Mackie Control has been doing that for years i guess....
but yeah, not for me. or you.
or you.
edit* changed the title to have a question mark to show my undying hatred for this device

I'll probably get Maschine down the road but don't see it in any way as a replacement for the APC40.
I don't really get the hating on it though. It does have it's fails but from what I've read everybody who has one is thrilled with it and most of the fails can be fixed in software updates.

yeah dude, i don't hate it. just trying to flip flop after the double no before the ableton forum suspected my disloyalty and flamed me into the abyss.
i think this hardware/software relationship is the way of the future and we're going to have some awesome stuff in the next few years.

I think it's something that I would really want if I didn't have over 9000 usb devices. I'm serious, there are only 3 usb inputs on my lappie and I'm not carrying a hub with me on the road....nor do I need all that.
I think it's good that they did this integration thing. Maybe for someone who went the Maschine route and can't afford both this is good stuff. Less hate more LOVE!

Yeah, that $15, 2 oz. 1" x 3" box really pushes things past that which is reasonable.

my thoughts exactly.
Maschine reminds me of the KORE 1 controller&software that made me switch to computer music making, because it gave me that hardware feeling.sure,it had it's flaws too,but KORE 2 was a major improvement(soundvariations,multi-outputs etc)
Maschine gave me an even better feeling, and would certainly pave the way for a more hands-on approach to KORE(browser hardware controls, two screens).
regarding the Akai apc-40:
in my eyes it's more of an ADDITION than a competition.awesome to have side by side with KORE 2 and a laptop
and yes,i'm getting both!(as soon as those albums start selling.......)
patience......

In my short time as an Ableton Live user (started with 7 and just upgraded to the 8 suite) I am totally impressed by their customer service and availablity to answer questions and respond to concerns. I'll take my chances with the APC40 over any NI hardware. Already pre ordered and drooooling!!!

and on a completely unrelated note--ukRuss--I am yet another guy with Ableton and the FCB1010 who really appreciated your videos. Thanks!

Oh you guys......
It has nothing to do with the size...it's just that I don't need 4+ usb controllers.

The more i read about machine, and the more vids i see of it up on you tube, the less i see it as competition for the APC.
To me its more like competition with the MPD's, and would be a very cool addition to an APC.
Hell.. i'm even starting to develop soe gear lust for the machine...
