since as long as I can remember every time I install live I sit and wait for it and wait for it and then it says "not responding" then certain areas of the screen get all white, then it goes back to normal and eventually says "not responding" then in the end everything works out. this has been on several computers over 3 versions of live. I've always sorta just thought that lives installers were crappy.

is it just me?

eh... so you think it has to do with other versions being installed?

it just seems to happen with every live install, updates, live packs. "not responding" and graphics get all messed. seems weird to me especially considering this is on 3 computers over the last 3 or 4 years

no, I didn't get any weirdness when installing Live 8.01. All working fine from scratch.

Only weirdness is this messy library update: with each major upgrade they render your old library useless for the older version, or you have to start with multiple libraries which I don't want to because of missing space on my harddisk.

no no tone, my point is the updates always work fine but everything gets all glitchy while installing, mostly the graphics and I always get "program not responding" messages. and then it works out fine. it's always seemed to me that live installers kinda suck but I'm curious if it's this way with everyone.

@Johnisfaster: never had anything like this. even though I'm with Live since 2.0
and on several computers, PC as well as Mac.

it seems as if your computer has to struggle..do you have enough RAM installed?
