Any fans?
Yet another one of those bands that I've heard about for years yet am only just getting into myself.
I mean, it's not like we're talking Led Zeppelin, or the Pixies here, but it's pretty damn good listening to witching hour here on a Saturday evening in my new studio room - windows open, sun setting outside, nice breeze blowing...
I'm a sucker for artsy female singers.
Think I will go make an iced mocha.

Been a fan since seeing this video.

Got caught by the early 80's new wave vibe. The fact they took the cool stuff, not the goofy stuff like so many artists do.
Witching Hour is a great record. Never liked the Pixies that much, so I like it better obviously, different strokes.

I've been following Ladytron since the first album, I think. I was hooked when I read about them in a magazine and their music was described as what people in the late 70s/early 80s thought music would sound like in the future.
I think it's the deadpan nonchalant attitude that wins me over, and girls with "Ladytron" haircuts. Their music is good too.

Saw them last night at Webster Hall. Was good for the first 30 minutes, but after a while I got incredibly bored. All the songs sounded the same, really deep bass and some synths that were just mumbled (maybe the mixing was bad). bleh :[

Sounds like a bad mix, that sux. I saw them right after Witching Hour came out, and they sounded really good. You could tell it was all done live, and the singer is to die for IMO.

I prefer Freezepop.
In my opinion: more melodic song writing, wittier, sexier. Incredibly talented.
Some gorgeous songs:
Tender Lies
Plastic Stars
Swimming Pool
Outer Space
Emotions And Photons
Lazy
Duct Tape My Heart

They're OK, I don't really like comparing bands that only have basic things in common (female singer, old school synth pop etc.), but I would disagree. Freezepop are really more 'american' sounding, and it shows in the song writing as well as the ethereal qualities like them being more melancholy sounding than wistful.
^^^ After writing that to be sure I checked their bio, yeah they're from Boston. I guess I mainly just like my shameless pop British.

I usually do too.
I do love the Ladytron song Playgirl -but then I would since it sounds the most like Freezepop!
I need to check out the more recent work by both Ladytron & Freezepop.
