OK - I had gone through a computer upgrade - installed the boxed Suite 7 but not the Session Drums. Now I have installed downloaded Suite 8, installed Session Drums from my 7 CDs...all seems to be OK...but..what are the SessionDrumsXXXUpgrade Live Packs that came with 8? Do I need to install them after? When I try it says it is already installed...

I'm feeling a bit lost on the mangement of my live packs as well.... Just upgraded from Suite 7 to Suite 8 (download option). Is there a resource that explains what users need to do up So CONFUSED, and worried that I have not realized the full goodness of the upgrade!

I don't think you have to manually install the upgrade packs.
In my case, when I installed the SD packs of the 7 suite DVDs, at the end of each one it would say "upgraded to 8.2" (or whatever 8.x version # it was)
so it seems that sneaky ableton made it automatically look for upgrade packs when installing older ones. this may be dependent on installing the packs via the file menu from live. not sure about that.
in any case there should not be any harm in installing an upgrade pack. it would just tell you that it is already installed

Hi,
the additional Session Drums MIDI Clips can be downloaded here:
http://www.ableton.com/livepacks
--> "Session Drums Update"
These install into the "Clips/Drums" folder of your Live Library.
Best,
Daniel
