lenght of the automation should also be
adopted by the target clip automatically.
e.g. you have an 4 bar automation line, adopt
it to a2 bar clip --> clip envelope is automatically
unlinked and increased to 4 bar.

Would be great to even extend the workflow with
favourite envelopes.

Its really strange an intelligent workaround like this isn't already in!
Especially if the necessary rewrite for automation-in-session-problem is years ahead!

yes, and this comment should have the character
of a suggestion because the 128 param. limit story
found an end in Live 8 too.
And the solution was somehow quite simple in the end.
Why not with the automation in session view over
a thing like an envelope automation pool?
I think this would be a great thing to have.

I don't see the problem. You have clips you can draw automation into or even copy it from the arrange view (rather laboriously). So why not just allow recording into a clip too? You can even do it with midi learnt plugins so what's the holdup?
