Korg padKONTROL installation - need help

Just got a padkontrol - having great difficulty in getting anything at all out of it!!!!!

Could anyone point me in the right direction here? ie what do I need to set up in options/preferneces/ midi?

For example - can i use one of the preloaded scenes in the pk to trigger impulse, or do I need to map each pad to each drumsample? If so - how is this done? I've obviously tried the normal midimap thing in Ableton, click on the Impulse cell then touch the the relevant Korg pad - nothing happens and nothing is mapped.

How useful / easy is it to control ableton, trigger clips in scenemode etc.

I am really F**c**d with this. I have read the manual - the Japanese version makes as much sense as the English to me.

Give us a hand here someone.

phil

Hey philtervoncutoff,

Try the settings listed in the following forum discussion here:

http://forum.ableton.com/viewtopic.php? ... drum+racks

This should get you going easily for using with Drum Racks.

For Impulse, yes, load the scene... using the Editor Librarian works best for this.

I don't use this to control the host interface, so I'd the wrong person to try and help you with that, if this is what you're looking for.

Hope this helps

elix,

Thanks for the prompt reply - do you know what is meant by:

input padKontrol Port A: TRACK=on / SYNC=off / REMOTE=on

I have got all the other settings as per the manual.

Phil.

I believe the post is referring to the way it is setup in Live's Preferences under the Midi Sync tab.

Live should recognize it... if it doesn't, then double check to make sure your using the right driver. If I remember correctly, Win will default to it's own driver, so double check to make sure your using Korg's driver instead.

You can find out by going to Control Panel>Sounds and Devices... then choose the Hardware tab, choose the PadKontrol, then choose properties and finally click the driver tab to see what driver it's using. It should say Korg as the driver provider.

elxicano,

You are right on track settings - I have these settings in place.

I also have the latest Korg driver - but good point.

Thanks,

Phil.
