Can I record midi controller movements to an audio clip?

Hi. New to this whole Ableton thing and I am really loving it! However, I am a bit stumped right now. I have a lovely loop, in the form of a clip, that I would love to add a nice "transpose" envelope to. Now, I realize in the clip's view, I can set the first envelope box to "transpose" and then draw a pretty line. However, I HATE drawing things like this and can get a much more musical result if I simply wiggle my midi controller around to get the sound I want. However, unlike the "mixer" envelopes on a track (ie. panning, volume, etc.) I can't seem to get the movement to actually be recorded to the clip. Any suggestions?

Maybe one day we will be able to do this. We are still only on version 8 of the software. Let's give Ableton some time to work this out. Another few years perhaps and we will be tweak stuff LIVE in realtime in session view and have it record!
In the meantime it's all about the mouse. Or you could record your tweaks into the innovative Arrange View timeline.
(feeling sarcastic today)

it's been posted by people at Ableton that this issue is in conflict with the core of the software's architecture, fixing it would mean a major rip up of the software. they definitely know we want it, the Abes use Live as well, I'm sure they want it too. anything's possible but that's where it's at.

Hi nowtime. Well, it doesn't seem like you can record or even create envelopes in the arrange view other than panning, levels etc. Anything that is clip specific doesn't seem to be recordable in that view. However, I was able to record the transposing sound as audio directly to the track in the arrangement view, but since it doesn't record my movements in any way the info is not editable in any way afterwards.
