How often do you listen to your own music?
How often do you listen to your own music?
I've wondered about this for a while, but just now got around to asking. I realized that the music I listen to the most at the moment is my own. I'm not sure why this is. Maybe it's because of the "I made this!" vibe I get or maybe it's because I really pander to my own musical tastes and write exactly the kind of music I'd like to hear. Or maybe I'm just egotistical!

Almost every time I wear headphones on the train. I listen to what is good and not, it helps me to sort out what I ned to do when I sit in front of the computer. The best time for me to listen to my music is right before I go to sleep. I lay in bed with my headphones and I get really inspired before I go to sleep and it gives me something to be excited about the next day.

Works-in-progress go into regular rotation with the rest of my music collection. Finished tracks, maybe once or twice a year.

I always listen to my own tunes, that's why I write them.

im not sure if its how it is for you , but i write constantly, whenever given the chance, and write impulsively, because there are constant creative ideas going on in my head. i love a certain amount of bands and their albums, but find myself constantly listening to my own music... it is therapeutic, and it moves my own soul. it is listening to my own world that resides inside. i dont think theres anything wrong with that

2/3 of the music I listen to is my own, works in progress and finished tracks. I am constantly analyzing for offending frequencies and various arrangement issues......

Oh yeah, deffo, all the time. Not necessarily for production tweaks or errors or that, just to think about live delivery and what might work next etc.etc.

Re: How often do you listen to your own music?
When I make a new tune I will listen to it FAR too much, to the point where after a couple of days (if it's not actually that great) to a week (if it's pretty decent) I will never ever want to listen to it again!!!
My trouble is rendering half finished projects though; sometimes if I am really into it but it's only half-finished, i will listen to it too much and just suck all the freshness out of it that would be required to finish it off.
Bad times...

Similar. Work in progress, quite a lot. Finished sent off work...never. I don't play my own stuff out in clubs either, except for the once or twice to see how it sounds on a system. It is nice when you walk into a club and hear your stuff come on though, still gives me that excited child on xmas morning feeling.UncleAge wrote:Works-in-progress go into regular rotation with the rest of my music collection. I listen a lot to my music when i,m composing, writing, producing.
when i finish a song i heard it about 200-300 times so NO i don,t listen to my music after that.
After a year i start listen to it again.
