Problems with syncing in live 8

i have problems with live 8. i want to sync my outboard (novation drumstion) to live. live is master and triggers the novation with midinotes from the matrix. if i record it i have a latency about 51 msec. so i use the track delay or the compensation nothing happens. the only thing which reacts is if i let about +200 msec.
i usually worked withe track delay on the midi channel which worked fine in live 7. but know in 8 i get no results neither with the track delay or the compensation. is this a known bug? or some stupid switch in the preferences??

You should either use the external instrument device or alternatively record the drumstation sounds into Live with the "monitor" switch turned off (on the audio track where you record into). The track delays are no proper solution to compensate the offset, even though this worked in Live 7. There's a problem with the playthrough optimization in Live 8 which leads to the assumption that the track delays have no effect. However, the proper method to record your drumstation is what I suggested above.

Nico

ok if i use this two methods i have nearly no delay(2 msec) but withe monitor of i dont hear anything(!). with the external instrument it works when i mute the recording channel to have not the double signal. the freezing is quiet long and not really intuitively. so bit complicated but it works. thanks nico

If you don't have an external mixer to monitor the output of your drumstation, you might check if your audio interface supports direct monitoring. This allows you to route the incoming audio signal straight back to the output of your interface, so you can listen to it without any latency and "silently" record it into Live.
Btw, if you still get a 2 ms offset, run the driver error compensation lesson from the built-in tutorials to check if you need to adjust the driver error compensation in Live's audio preferences. That having said, the 2 ms offset might also be caused by the latency of the drumstation itself or even by your MIDI connection.
Best,
Nico
