I have over 300GB of EXS, NKI, and SoundFont Presets. i would love to have all them inside my Sampler preset folder. But I'm talking about more than 1,000 patches. Why should I have to double click all of them? Why not have the functionality to drag them all in?

PLEASE let me know if this is gonna be made easier before I finally decide to torture myself!

I don't know, but is it possible to drag them all into a project on separate tracks so Sampler is forced to convert them to bring them into project? Maybe?

I tried, but it didn't work. Almost fooled me as lived seemed to be importing, but a window flashed and disappeared. Tried searching the library to see if it would show....no luck. This is killing me right now as I already have to edit the zone mappings as i import...having to import each of my 3,850 patches really discourages me....and I'm actually trying my best not to use logic right now (which can read EXS natively).

Try asking customer service, maybe they know? If they do, let me know also!

Still hoping this feature is on its way. I REALLY REALLY REALLY NEED IT. And I'm sure most of us do.

Samplers converting works fine, but only one patch after the other. Batch converting is a feature that many people are waiting for since Live 6.
First put the Samples and exs/kontakt files into the Samples folder in your library, then drag the exs files onto Lives gui and they will be converted and become part of your library.

That method still requires doing one by one. I don't even want the samples to be imported, that is an option within "Manage Library" for those who prefer it. I just want to get all the EXS files converted to Sampler instruments. Is that so much to ask for in Live 8? I wouldn't even mind a separate utility application that will convert them, allowing me to drag the newly created file to a separate folder. Could it really be hard for a programmer to do?

Obviously its not so easy. I did it all by hand, every single patch of my EXS Library. And then all my old e6400 sounds, with batch converting into kontakt files (extreme sample converter) and then into samplers format. Took a while. But this has also a good side...you recall some really nice patches you already forgot over the years.

When you have over 3,000 patches, its just not worth doing one by one. My preset count grows every month as I purchase them. I refuse do torture myself. Its bad enough I have to edit all of their mappings from 61 to 88keys. I think ableton is trying to do it all in one application. Im sure a work around can be made as a separate utility app. If live can convert one at a time, then I'm sure that a touch of programming can make a queued list where the application converts in assembly. I applied for their programming job, but they never called. But its definitely possible.

Sampler is great.. but the long-winded converting blows - It is not up to Abe standards of simple, to the point music making.

Well, for those wanting to know, I recently purchased Komplete 6. Kontakt 4 has made some significant improvements. One of which is its ability to batch convert and import common formats (EXS, SXT, SF2, etc). But it gets better: Kontakt has also adopted the database-browsing function used by Kore. So now you can batch import external sounds, organize them easily by customizable categories, but you can also save space by using the same samples as your other formats. If you use a mac, this is even better thanks to Spotlight.

i am afraid that when ableton comes with that feature, all of us had yet imported the 50GB kontatk library by clicking every single .nki....






at least i have the time to do it... +7000 nki presets... i dont need this feature anymore
