Hi guys,
I'm a bit confused here, I found Ableton 8 Suite (complete, not demo), EIC and EIC2 in a ecommerce site (kinda ebay, but its called mercadolivre).
The price is 69 reais, I'm brazilian, in dollars it will be like 30 dollars, but the original is 500 dollars in Ableton site!
So I sent a question about the product, the dialog is going like (started this talk today):
***
Me:
Hi, I wanna know if the product is original, I dont want buy if its illegal.
Seller:
Its not illegal, its a OEM version.
***
So, what it means? Can I buy it, use it and I will not have problems?
And if I wanna upgrade for the next 9 version or try get techsupport?
The same person is selling OEM versions of Native Instruments Komplete by 269 reais (maybe 120 dollars).
I'm thinking in buy both, if both products are not torrents/cracked stuff.
Can you help me please? I've to decide till tomorrow.

Epic amounts of bullparp. The guy is trying to pass cracked software off as legit. Basically making money out of peoples gullibility.
wiki
"Beside referring to manufacturers, OEM can be used as an adjective to describe software licensed only for a particular system. OEM software is purchased alongside a system or hardware parts. OEM software is often cheaper than the full versions but not as cheap as academic or student editions. "

as far as I know there is no such thing as an "OEM" edition of ableton.
OEM editions are those that are shipped with other products, so you might get an OEM copy of Windows with your new Sony laptop. Because OEM means "original equipment manufacturer" , it is a version that software companies supply to equipment manufacturers that will install a copy and then pass the whole package on to an end-user.
So you can see - this is quite different from an Ableton situation. What is the 'equipment' that this supposed OEM version comes with? It doesn't make any sense to me.
The only similar thing that Ableton provides is the 'Lite' versions that they have bundled out with various audio hardware in the past. But only the lowest product, and certainly never their full suite.
Also the price is way way too cheap, not just a little bit cheap , but monster cheap. alarms bells ringing there.
If it sounds too good to be true then in very likely is.

If you ask someone if they're lying and the answer is "no" they could still be lying...
Ableton Live is NOT sold for 30 dollars! And if you don't want to pay for it no need to give money to a scumbag!!!

You'll also see FAQs on those sites. The customary blurb is:
"No, you can't register them with the original developer; we provide support".
Now, what does that tell you?
