Just ordered Akai APC40,should i wait to order Live 8 suite?

Hi there,

I'm new to the forum and have a question i could not find the answer in the 1000 hits the search function gave me, so excuse my lazyness

After many years of sequencing with Cubase i felt there was something missing. I recently started recording live and like the way it gives a human touch. I use a lot of hardware espacially analog synths and sometimes use softsynths as well, best of both worlds i gues

I started to look what all the fuzz was about with a program called Ableton Live. My eyes popped out of my head when i saw the videodemo's of Live 8 with the Akai APC40. I drewled all over the ableton site for a few weeks considering should i buy or not, leaving years of cubase sequencing behind. Well i decided to buy Live 8 suite with the APC40 and know for sure that it will inspire me like never before.

So as a future Ableton user i first ordered the APC40 and read that it comes with a lite version of Live 8 with the possibility to upgrade to full versions.

Now here is my question, i want Live suite 8, should i wait till i get the APC to see if i can save money with the upgrade or doesn't it matter if i buy the suite version now?

I'll have to wait at least a month from now till the APC arrives

Or at the very least download the free demo and do the lessons, work along with youtube videos and get your head around it. Coming from hardware it took me a few weeks, but once I got it I was like "wow, it can't be this easy - oh wait, it is" over and over and over.

You can save money with the upgrade. I did when I bought my Live 8 Suite.

There might be an upgrade discount that you can only use after you register the lite license. In fact, that's how I first upgraded to v5. I got a lite version of 4 when I bought Protools, then upgraded to 5 shortly after. It's funny how I don't use Protools anymore...

You still can use the demo in between. Maybe you can try and negotiate with customer support too ? They are pretty nice .

Get it now there's a loooooot of stuff in there and you want to get going. I came from Logic, made the switch after 1 hour of testing Live 4, if that would have been Live 8 it would have taken me 10 seconds to make up my mind.
Welcome to the church of Live :D

I'd wait till the APC arrives, download the trial and go throught the lessons.

When the APC arrives, buy live 8, reinstall os and keep your setup fresh and to a minumum. learn the APC and Live 8 and slowly introduce 3rd party synths 6 months down the track (unless your loaded of course)
