"Select On Launch" doesn't work with midi input

There's a UI inconsistency that I'm guessing is a bug: as long as the "Select on Launch" preference is set to On, clicking on a clip with your mouse to play it also selects that clip. However, if you MIDI map that clip to a MIDI key, triggering the clip via MIDI does NOT select it, regardless of whether or not you've set the "Select on Launch" preference.

This is a problem for me as I use a MIDI foot controller along with Bome's MIDI Translator to delete clips. This worked properly in Live 3, where I could play a clip to select it, then hit another MIDI key to delete it. Does not work now. Anyone have any workarounds?

hmm

I have exactly the opposite problem in that, with Select on Launch deselected, every time I launch a scene with a MIDI key, that scene is always selected!

nervoustestpilot, what version are you using? select on launch doesn't work for me with midi control no matter what with live 5 but it was there in the 5 betas and in version 3

see this thread, I think it's a vital and very important feature that they have to bring back for MANY live looping reasons:
