use one audio input rather than 2
or drop utility on a stereo channel and set it to 0%

I was having a similar issue, recording a mono track via an internal source such as Resampling, soft synth plugins, or another audio track. In this case Live will only record stereo.

hit the edit button and convert to mono
shouldnt matter to the sound when its a stereo file with same waveform on left and right
and it will half the filesize
i do this all the time

ps:audacity is a good freeware audio-editor if you dont allready have one

In order to record in mono, do the following:

In the toolbar select View ---> Bus (or you can click the bus icon at the bottom right part of the Live window.

From the bus display select "input"

The click on "link" - this will unlink the left and right input channels, and you will now be able to record from one or the other.

the following may be too much information, but:

Now from the "input type" dropdown select "live in"

The from the "input channel" dropdown select left or right.

There you go.

For me the utility plugin hasn't worked on a group of 2 tracks with the same sound: one in the left and the other in the right.

What you could do is hover over the panorama or panning parameter of every track and right click on it, there you will have split to stereo pan mode, and there you can actually center both speakers. Only after doing that I actually saw a visible change and all my drums became fully mono. Link on how to do that is below.

Before that, the track was almost clipping but it was very quiet, so I didn't really understand what was the reason. And on this topic, does anyone know if on groups the processing works differently than on individual tracks? What I mean is that both the faders for the volume increase differently than on individual channels, and now the mono/stereo compatibility also seem to be different. It may be placebo but I even feel that the sidechaining gets washed out when being used on a group.
