Hi Guys

Depeche mode recently launched their new album. They decided to give people a chance to remix a track called “Peace”.

This is my version of the remix http://www.beatportal.com/remix/detail/ ... te-66-dub/

I know Trance is not every ones favorite genre but if you could spare 7min of your time I would really appreciate it if you could take a listen.

Here is the original track http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=COmq5gRWU3U

There are quite a few good ones. I finished and uploaded mine yesterday.

Kind of spacious and stripped down until a big build/freak out that starts half way through.

I didnt really see an "official thread" for the Beatport contest so I thought I'd post here. It was made all in Ableton 6 (minus any automated detune  ) Drum programming in Reason.

So as much of a super fan I am of DM I must admit my motivation for entering the contest wasnt purely for the opportunity to "remix" Peace.

Its one of my least favorite tracks on the album and it did not give me the typical mad desire to remix it.

However, Im a bedroom DJ/"producer" (the kind who never finishes anything). So this was more of an opportunity to set and accomplish a small goal for myself and actually finish something.

Although I think I half accomplished my goal...its a step in the right direction for me. Its my own fault that I waited until the last minute and felt rushed. I did not get to include all my ideas and was limited by the size requirements but there are certain parts I really like about it:

1) the intro
2) the beefed up original bass taken from all original samples
3) the vocal loops
3) the 1st drop with bass

What I didnt like and will most likely change in the future:

1) empty space with not much going on
2) overall lacking effort in the beat/percussion
3) low volume

Take a listen to a 1st timer and let me know what you like (if anything)
