hey all-

finally reached judd levison over a BBE. he is a windows guys, so he was just guessing.

he said that the installer installs a bunch of different versions of the plugin. he guessed that the "right" OSX vst plugin is labeled SonicMaximizerCarbon. all the other plugins were OS 9 and other junk. he said try and delete all the other ones so that carbon stood alone in the vst folder. then reboot.

guess what. he guessed right. Live 4 now sees SonicMaximizer in the main vst folder. yeah-boooyyyeeee!

naga of the sea

well, not just guessing...

i'm glad it worked out for you.

actually, i wasn't guessing about what sometimes happens in MAC installs, but i was guessing about your particular problem; isn't that the nature of trouble-shooting? 8)

worst case, in MAC installs, is that the installer will put both the <carbon> (for OSX and later) AND the <non-carbon> (for OS9 and earlier) versions into your plugin folder. the net result is that the host program has a little brain freeze.

the fix is easy, drag the <non-carbon> version to the trash.

99% of the MAC questions i get are the same fix. so, my guessing skills arent quite as cool as either one of us would like!

thanks so much for the support and good luck!
