Equipment Insurance - Any Tips?

Hi People,
I've been a regular forum browser for a while, but this is my first post. Go easy please :-)

I was wondering if anyone has any good information regarding equipment insurance for travelling (mainly in USA and Europe).

I've been using a company called Safeware for the past couple of years, and pay a $200 premium to have my laptop and some other musical equipment covered while i'm on the road.

I haven't had to make a claim yet, knock on wood, but there must be some others out there who have their gear covered whilst touring.

Any knowledge to share?

Thanks!

What are you traveling in? Van, bus, 1979 Celica hatchback?

Can the equipment travel with you? - in the vehicle?

If so, I think your auto insurance could cover some of it depending on your deductables and history etc.

I use State Farm. Haven't made a claim either, in 6 years of buying insurance. But, friends of mine have been robbed in that time, losing tons of their gear. I don't regret a year of it!

Insurance is the biggest scam of the 20th century, and beyond.

Well, since its required by law... coupled with the fact that your fucked if you don't have it and then found out at fault in an accident within the U.S., I'd say it wouldn't hurt to ask.
