Another FCB1010 thread. MIDI Script & iFCB & toggle on/off

Hi, I can't seem to find the right answers through search, so maybe I will try posting my own total-n00b-with-little-to-no-background-in-midi-wants-to-do-something-ambitious thread
I have an FCB1010 that I would like to use for managing loops and effects. The guy who created http://bl0rg.net/~manuel/fcb1010-mappings/ really helped me out by creating a fully functional setup that I grew somewhat accustomed to. Unfortunately, I was previously using Live 6 and I have not found it to work 100% in Live 8; it seems buttons 1-5 on pages 01-09 do not trigger any changes in the Audio Effect Rack. (If you are able to get these working in Live 8, let me know!)
I'd like to map out the FCB1010 similar to Manuel, but incorporating the Looper function that Live 8 features. I can do a lot of mapping within Ableton by going into Map Mode but there are some things I cannot get functioning, like toggling on and off a clip with the same button, or how Manuel was able to make button 8 on pages 01-09 always go to record a new clip in the relative track.
If it's something that cannot be accomplished within Ableton (again, correct me if I'm wrong there), does this mean I need to create MIDI script? Does this mean I need to use iFCB? If the latter is correct, can someone try to explain how to begin writing MIDI script like Manuel's?
Thanks in advance.
