The New Warping style in Live 8

As much as I appreciate the new beats mode, the new style of warping thats been introduced is painful. Earlier I could get a track warped in about 10 seconds. Now it takes minutes.

Have to worry about Transients, Warp Markers and how they both interact. I went thru the tutorial by Medway which helped ALOT. But at this point, its rather frustrating with the new one!

I just use my copy of 7 to warp the tracks and then import into 8... I'm still working on perfecting the 8 warping... takes a little more time just try to be patient, you won't be able to warp a track in 10 seconds anymore... at least not at first

What about the transient markers when doing this? They are critical for beats mode if u want to use it well...

the old method was retarded, time is a constant, it's the music that changes.

give it time.

I don't mind the new method, I just wish they wouldnt have changed the way we warp so much in the process (new zoom zones, lack of clip timeline, etc).

I love the warping mode on 7 and hate the one on 8

I never was an avid warper in the first place, and I've always been kind of "huh... interesting -
I wasn't expecting that", but coming from a Recycle background, the new method makes a lot more
sense. But I miss the timeline in the clip; I've sometimes been listening to long spoken word
samples and taken note of points where samplable passages start and end, opened the sample as a
clip in Live, and instantly found the correct place. This is now quite impossible, unless I've
missed something. :?

im really struggling with the new warping for whole tracks... I think its probably better for loops but ffor DJing I find it as bit frustrating.

the thing is, a whole electronic sequenced track is a constant tempo, should it should just need one starting marker and then rest should slot in in re-pitch mode when pitched correctly(if you get me). I don't want to start stretching some bits more than others for a full track - i want maximum quality.

what are your steps for quickly warping a whole track?

Check this technique... works quite well for electronic music. It won't help you with old drifting songs though...

cheers -yeah thats rougly how i would do it in version 7 - although i wouldnt have loads of yellow markers like that. just do the beginning and end and because the timing is rigid it all slots in nicely. I'm just struggling to do it like this is live8. I think i need more practice.... using the shift function helps.

Read carefully.
There's just one marker at the beginning, set1.1.1 here, warp straight, then drag a grey marker at the end. Save. Done.

It's really easy unless there's tempo changes in the song or intros without percussive elements.
