I want my money back.

The EUR 119 I've just spent for the update is burned money. Your software keeps crashing every now and then as described in another thread - you can build a set using AU, but remember it well, since you won't ever be able to reopen it. Ableton Live 4 crashes on every attempt to open such a set. Double-click, file->open, the beachball appears, Ableton Live crashes reproduceably. I have already trashed all the preferences and so on, so this won't be the issue.

I didn't use anything heavy-weighty, just Absynth and FM7 and Impulse in my set. Light-weight synths every other program can handle with. My computer is a Dual g5 1.6 with 2 gigs of RAM and Mac OS X 10.3.4.

It's worse than Beta. It's just software that won't work. Please contact me to clear how I can get rid of the license and get my momey back. I am not going to keep Live 4 any minute longer. I've lost hours of work and some ideas due to your non working iece of software. Since I am resident in Germany, I am going to get "Wandlung" from you in case you should ignore my post. But I do hope you won't. Live is a beautiful tool and I would love to be able to use it!

With kind regards from Lübeck,
Alexander Jensko ("aljen")

you claim to use a dual G5 but your equipment list at the bottom says otherwise.

no issues with FM7 & impulse around here, but absynth is known to be buggy.

...and there's nothing lightweight about FM7 or Absynth.

Aljen, we are really sorry you have such a bad experience with Live 4.0.1.

Do you have the newest updates from Native Instruments for Absynth and FM7? We have several reports about problems with older versions of Absynth not working correctly. With the newest updates most of our customers report it works. If you don't have the newest update, please give it a try.

Most VST and Audio Units work great in Live 4. There are few that make problems. We are working with the producers of plug-ins to achieve the best compability possible and we will have updates that improve compability. But we are not able to guarantee that every single plug-in will work. Any software producer can and will give such a guarantee. But as told before the plug-ins you mentioned should work with the newest updates.

Btw, there is nothing light-weight about Absynth and I know many hosts having problems with it.

Have you ever contacted Ableton support at [email protected] to sort out your problems? Please contact them directly if you encounter such problems.

Hope we can win your trust in Live 4 back.

Regards,
Frank

Frank: Thank you for your answer. You have been right and I have been wrong - I am sorry about that.

As you supposed, Absynth was the issue. I have been beta testing Live 4 on a different machine, which was also running the newest Absynth 2 update. On the new one, I've installed Absynth 2 without the latest update patch. This has been changed, and as far, everything is running fine as I have known it from Live since "ever".

Thank you again, and my apologies.

best wishes,
aljen
