Looper - Multiple devices without added input gain

I am looking to use a live looper setup with a saxophone and fcb1010, using 4 independent looper devices.
I have it set up and working well, but if I keep all four audio tracks monitor set to IN, I get 4 tracks worth of volume from what I'm playing. Yeah the loops come out at perfect volume but what I'm playing over them is drastically louder. I only want the one I'm recording into at the moment to play my signal from the microphone, but I want them all to be playing.
So I set the monitors to Auto and whenever I hit the midi note controlling a looper, it arms the track as well. This works perfectly, but now there are horrible clicks anytime I record/overdub/arm.
Does anyone know a way around this, or a way to get rid of those clicks?
Thanks.

Check out this old thread on using one input for your sax and then set the loopers to receive input from that track:
http://forum.ableton.com/viewtopic.php? ... 78#p341078
That way you're not monitoring your live output not from four tracks but just one.
Alternately, you could experiment with racking your four loopers and mapping FCB pedals to chain select zones.
The clicks, I'm not sure.
I hope this helps

thank you for the reply. I'll look into putting them all in one rack and experimenting with chains. Not sure how I would control their volume separately that way but there must be a solution.
The link to the old forum works well with clips but with the looper (as far as I can tell) doesn't work unless the tracks are not on off.
Temporarily I fixed my issue by creating four more tracks with my input selected, sending each to a looper track, muting them and then midi mapping each mute to the respective looper record button. This achieves the same thing but without record enabling every time, and got rid of my pauses. I guess I could do it with one input track instead of four, but I'm not sure how to have each looper-record-midinote unmute the input track. that's got to be possible too.
if anyone has any elegant solutions I would love to hear them!
thanks

So, I actually tried my advice and realized that I'd forgotten you can only map one controller to THE chain select on a rack
This IS a difficult one. My personal solution at the moment is to rack four loopers and map the chain select to a slider with the four chain select zones labeled beside it. This is so I don't have to look at the screen to know what looper I've got selected. It's not the best solution, since you need to fiddle with a slider (or knob) to change loopers, but it works the best monitoring wise. Alternately, one could have the auto select on the chain select zone highlighted so whilst looking at the screen and sliding the chain select slider, you'd see which looper was selected. I know this is probably not what you are looking for, but I guess it depends on how you perform with Looper and consequently how you structure your music.
I'll try your new fix and see how it works for me. Cheers

It's easily done.
Check out the input/output selector on the bottom right of the Looper, and set that to never.
Not the audio will only pass through after it's been recorded

Cool! I didn't spot that.
