when i open the monomulatr patch, in the the drop down menu that say 'apc auto map to live' there is no option for '2 apc emu to live'. so im stuck on the second step. any body know why i dont have this? thanks.
thats because the video was assuming that you already knew or did make IAC buses for it. for a MAC you manually make 2 IAC buses (there like midi inputs) and you can call them whatever you want. he called them "2 apc emu to live" I simply called my "apc to live." if you are on a PC you need to use something called midiyoke. hope that helps.

how do you make these?
look on the next page for the answer

Set up the monomulator right and you're good to go
Sometimes the max patch resets some values from the last launch, so I do personaly check if all is ok with midi ports and prefix [40h for molar].

I remember Spending half an hour desperate, it was simply a midiyoke port that was out.

Sorry I'm still on pc and can't help a lot mac users
ok well i have it pretty well dialed, the apc40/monomulator an all, **it more the exact midi prefs set up..and how to record...the unnoficial guide has alot of info and combinations that arent applicable to the apc40 cause of its less buttons(combinations and gen functions)..AND** i did want to know if you have 1 molar for any number of channels in live, i take it YES, and how do you erase waves from a row so you can record on that row? really i guess its less the set up and more the opps of the molar....
ahhiyt thanks /color]

Hermanus,

Off topic, but I saw you post on the Nonome thread on monome.org. It also showed that you used it with the apc40 was well as the launchpad. Do you think this is better than the monomulator? easier to use/setup etc? thanks man. if it matters im on 8.1.0 without M4L

That's THE good question

indeed, i'm heavily using launchpad with the nonome max5 patch.
The last version [1.24a] is finally friendly with molar.

But the refresh is way better with monomulator and apc40, concerning molar.
For mlr, launchpad+nonome does quite a good job.
I sadly don't use mlr, I do prefer molar to it.

The refresh on monomulator is almost perfect. So that's the one I prefer.
In molar if I go to waves page or level page or whatever, it's clean when I go from one to another.
With launchpad+nonome you often have to trick by selecting the color of the leds[green, red, amber and amberlight]
it's cool but can slow your flow, like a mind bugger.

ok, so i got everything working using molar, and im not trying to figure out the thing, i think ive got the basics down but have a couple questions regarding clips if someone could help me out. So i have a couple clips loaded in the cfg file, what the best/ quickest way to load or swap files on the fly to really have your arsenal of clips at hand?

For easily loading wav files, you need folders [one per row]
Then within molar, on the last row, you clic the last button> down to the right.
You can see wav written down to it.
Once you have tap this pad, you'll see leds lightning from upper left to the 7th row down.

It represents the folders, so if you tap the first upper left pad, you'll enter the first row folder, if your apc40 and monomulator are well connected, you'll see pads turned on, simply choose from the list :P

check the screenshot fullscreen, it's sort of explained

Hope it helps!

EDIT: Good News for ORIAN
The meta record stores wav files within the molar folder>>> where you save FXP files.
I did never notice, glad to discover this while helping others
cheers

So I as well took a screen shot of my setup hopefully one of you two can help me out and get it working 100%. I still cannot stop the track one its activated or have the sliders work at all.

Lastly hermanus,

I dont have my audio tracks setup like you do, I just have molar thrown in there and with tracks on the audio channels. I had Molar set up with both no midi input and with all channels still with no success. Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks guys!

I can help you about how to stop loops.
To stop a loop, press&hold the 7th pad then press the 8th pad [last to the right on the row]
Take a look a the following:

[6] PAD NUMBER (0-6) for LTG Deactivate (press this pad then pad+1)
This is what you want

and here's resync >>replace 0 by 6 for activation
[0] PAD NUMBER (0-6) for LTG Resync (this pad then pad+1)

as 0 is the first pad in a row, 6 really is the 7th pad in the row

about outputs, it's like this in my cfg file:

OUTPUT CONFIG (rows 1-16, output 1-8)
[2][3][4][5][6][7][8][1]

If i let 1 on the first case, the first row audio will get out from the molar track.
I don't like to add a track to resample another if I can avoid it

Some other cool stuff in cfg:

(1 or 0) WAV Reverse in MLR-style when pressed right-then-left
[1][1][1][1][1][0][0][0]

[0] VST Effect Type intead of VSTi (hosts require remove/scan/re-add)

[0] (Molar loop load method - 0=resampled, 1=sliced, 2=soundtouch)
I choose 0 for resampled, the best result at my taste, try and see by yourself

Code: Select all

edit function X locations. 0 thru 15 (256 device), or 0 thru 7 on 40h
I suggest "999" to disable a function. (use 3 digits max)
100-107 is sustain pedal (cc64) alternate functions (40h).
_____________________________________________________________________
ASSIGN FUNC 256-default 40h-default
-------------------------------------------------------------------

[101] pitch (3) (101)
[0] metasequence	(0) (0)
[100] nudge (6) (6)
[6] Collapse (4) (100)
[1] Copy/Paste (8) (1)
[2] Edit Steps (9) (2)
[3]	Edit Mult (10) (3)
[102]	SS Length (11) (102)
[103] Swing (12) (103)
[104] Mute/Solo (13) (104)
[105] 4x4 (14) (105)
[4] Pattern (15) (4)
[7] Wave (7) (7)
[5] Volume (5) (5)
[106] Gate (1) (106)
[107] Jam (2) (107)
This last quote can give you access to specific functions like the pitch.
You'll need for sure the Copy/Paste+ Pattern for creating and editing patterns.
Wave is a must have if you wanna easily load your samples
I have to go on my laptop to clear this deeper and make it clear for you

[img]/Users/Orian/Documents/molar%20setup%20screenshot.tiff[/img]<<i cant get the image to load?? :?:

i made folder paths in the .cfg file instead of single wave files (which i showed the paths and the folder location)
but i still dont understand which one is correct
**and i dont understand if your loading the sample into a row in molar, or finding them in their saved folders thru META func. in molar
i assume its coming from molar to the audio ch. 1,2,3...etc cause thats how you have them routed
but when i hit META on the APC the first button on every row is lit up...

dang... jus a basic "how to" on loading/recording the sample and molar routing would be great

thanks for the screen shots, they did help a bit
im closer thow fa reals, thanks a mills hermanus!

Open molar, clic on the first upper left pad to select it, then go up and clic the load button in molar.
Now you can choose the path of your wav files, select the first in the folder and you're good to go.

Repeat the process for each row [select first case and clic load>>then load wave file]

I don't know with macOSx but with windows, if I put the paths in the cfg file, it bugs everything and I can't use molar :|
So I always do it manually.
It rarely looses the path...if it really happens, not a big problem.

EDIT: about meta.

I set the cfg the way I don't have to press&hold pads on the last special function row.
But i've noticed that i have to hold the meta pad and select the amount of bars [one pad = one bar]
[0] Lowest Row Modes Latch (press on / press off) <<--replace 0 by 1 if you want to activate
I know it's a bit buggy with apc40, I do sometimes press and repress&hold to get sure.
After several tries, you'll get use to it and there will start fun for you, don't despair, real fun and discovery awaits you.

Molar is so perfect for remixing, it even gets you moods you'd probably never think about with the original materia

ok i got that process, but why meta record if you can just load in a file ?
i mean i knew that part of the process, but like i said i did that and the rows were way off metranome, big gaps at the ends, ;lots of wave editing and still FAR FROM USABLE....
>>>like i said in a previous post, i even went to the lengths of making all the samples in ableton, for the config file, to 2 or 4 bars and still way off!! ??

so you do do put folder paths in the config file instead of indivdual samples?
cause my shit was crashing all morning,,live went down 15 times or so just trying to load molar into a blank midi file..

but fa reals though, no despair and only much gratitude for your help...

oh and a long shot but here goes,, I would love to find a teacher (molar/monome) in the bay area....nothing to official , just someone who knows and wants to teach.... mof def gonna pay for it...u know anyone?
ahiyt then ...

edit: now that i have folder paths in the cfg file molar is empty,,what i wanted for sure.. but ??? ill try the reload...
edit2: the samples wont play when the folder paths are in the cfg file instead of sample files.. just tryed it an nathan?? :?:
ok now i cant get anything to play...at least before i had samples playing, however random, they played...no lwer row functions either,, those worked to ..and i took out the folder paths from cfg and put sample files back, still nothing..??? if i canfigure out how to load the screen shot i will....
