Currently using Live 6... should I upgrade?

Anyone upgrade from Live 6 to 8? If so, was it worth the $$ spent?
I don't need any of the drum or orchestration sounds (I use pre-made loops and synth pads). However I'm curious about the overall feel of 8 vs. 6 as well as any new soft synths included with 8.
Thanks.

Download the demo to Live 8 Suite.
I'm on Live 7, and I'm not "needing" to upgrading.
I want to, but ehh... I don't need to.

Do you find your work flow improved from 6 to 7?

What, and loose that 'retro' sound of the vintage programming? No way!
sorry, Friday fever.

What I'm loving most about 8 is the track grouping, the ability to quantize audio transients, and the new effects (Vocoder and Multiband in particular). This was all stuff I was itching for before I even knew it was coming though, so these additions might not make much of a difference for you...

Thanks for replying folks. I love Ableton. However, as a guitarist (and sometimes ambient hack synth/sampler), I only use 10-15% of what Ableton can do. I'm just wondering if it's worth the $ and effort to acquire the new version given how I use Ableton.

Based on using 10-15%, I say NO, your fine with what you have. Yes, there are great enhancements to live 8, but maximize (or at least up to 60-70%) your current rig, before upgrade mania infests you!

version 8 features are good, the actual implementation is bad.

once the bugs are ironed out YES.
but seriously wait a bit, the state of 8 is poor right now.

I am somewhat of the same species, and although you may never need all Live has to offer, the Looper is very fun, considering every VST you own can "enhance" you're playing.
Group Tracking is a +, and the Limiter is essential if you don't have one in you're arsenal.
If you have the scratch and you're looking to liven up you're rig, do it, do it now.
