Looper misbehaves when triggered with a Footswitch..

Dear Support,

I'm not sure if this is the right place to report bugs but a couple of us are having problems with the 'Big looper button', when assigned to a footswitch.

It able seems to record the first loop but then on the first overdub and any future clicks of the overdub button, the looper bars turn orange (i.e. overdub mode) but then randomly switches back to playback mode halfway through the loop. And also for the couple of bars that it was in Overdub mode, the audio wasn't actually recorded.

please see link: http://forum.ableton.com/viewtopic.php? ... 90&start=0

kind regards

S.

Bump,

Dear Support,

This is becoming a major problem now and i thought i would try with the APC40 footswitch slots in case that corrected the issue... Also it doesn't seem to be on the beta list of fixes so i thought i better bring it up here...

Since using the APC40 with looper...
A double click on the pedal to stop and erase whats been recorded now doesn't work...Also, when it records back a loop, its plays back the first time with lets say, 8 blocks of a 2 bar cycle...Then the next cycle it just has 1 solid block playing back over and over and just does whatever it pleases....sometimes overdubs, sometimes plays back previous stuff in the loopers memory..(didn't know it had a memory)...I've tried both Footswitch slots and 2 different pedals...

There are a few additional responses in the general forum section, http://forum.ableton.com/viewtopic.php? ... 90&start=0

If there's any additional info required please let me know?

Thanks very much.

Simon.

this is an irritating problem, especially when this feature is a big selling point of the software. Please confirm this is being looked into?

I've had some weirdness with the looper lately too...so I'll be watching this thread.

I'd LOVE to be able to trust it... it would super cool to use live.

i've emailed support - i get the exact same problem when using pedal input on a microkontrol. I will post any responses back up here.

Hi - this is the response I got from the ableton support.

try changing the polarity of PEDAL IN of the microkontrol.

See page 42. of the manual of the microkontrol.

Additionally, experiment with the PEDAL settings/assignments. Try for example 'SOSTENUT',...

See page 29/30 of the manual of the microkontrol.

I'll try this tonight and let you guys know!
Josh

everything seems to be working now! my pedal into the microkontrol is now on positive + polarity and sending a cc000 to midi channel 9 and works a treat when I just tested it on a midi instrument!

but what if your pedal is not capable of changing polarity?

Hi raze, what controller are you using? Could have a hidden feature to chagne it...

hi Josh,
nice to hear that it works on your side.
my quest was just a general one.
may be it was nice if Live would offer a polarity change as of so many pedal switches?
i own a Behringer FCB1010 which i ´d like to use.
a Midi control change as used as a sustain pedal has to consist of two values, 0 + 127 and may be the polarity is changed by whether you send 0 or 127 first, but i am not sure....
i had this issue with a sustain pedal and a keyboard, where the sustain function was upside down

Does that mean the Yamaha FC5 footswitch won't work using the APC40 footswitch slot?? Cos there is no polarity switch on that thing...it may also explain why the Yamaha FC4 pedal won't work either??

Bummer, may need to buy new pedals if thats the only solution...Although, it was working on the previous versions of live including the original Live 8 Beta, so surely this can't be the finally conclusion to this issue...?

yeah I think it's only sustain pedals that are going to be able to change polarity. I would have thought that behringer would be more compatible, have you tried programming it to send notes instead of CC messages? (if possible?)

I changed the polarity of my pedal on the microkontrol options, i'm not sure if the APC has a similar function.
