I'm sure we've all been there... kinda sucks.

I'm finding myself just opening up the laptop, firing up Live and... bleh. I'm just bored with composing on a computer in general, I think. I don't have the money to make a magically-find-inspiration-in-this-box purchase & I've spent probably $40-50 trying to list my mbp on eBay to just get out of the whole scene but it never sells. *sigh*

And my old forum account is totally fucked.

Wilford,

Perhaps your diabetes is making you feel tired and lazy? Have you checked your blood sugar lately? You know, Liberty Medical can ship your diabetic supplies right to your doorstep... at almost no cost to you!

Hope that helps!

when I get into modes like that I try something new with Live. go through the Tips n Tricks sticky, use a feature you've never used, do something you've read about in a post that sounded interesting.

I think the best thing that you could do would be to pick up a musical instrument. If only the computer is your musical instrument, then learn to play piano or the guitar. You will at least be getting somewhere in your musical development and it will relax you. It will also hopefully stimulate some musical ideas.
Better yet--buy yourself a new synth VST

Two suggestions

a) Goto freesound.org, pick ten random samples and see where they take you.

b) Create a new drumkit. You can't have enough of them. This inspires me a lot, don't know why.

It's good to come up with ideas whilst not around your computer. Try keeping a note book with random ideas you have over the course of a day and only open live if it's what a particular idea calls for.

I think similarity's can be drawn with say "guitar noodling" or something where instead of concentrating and developing an approach... instead one is just going through their veritable bag of tricks until they get bored and their instrument becomes simply an object in an already determined ritual (the noodling/getting bored) instead of being a tool, that when necessary, can be used to facilitate realizing one's music/experiments/thoughts. Not that one approach is better than another but you seem to long for a new one.
