i started this whole music creation thing with the korg,
now i want to go back to step sequencing using the ESX1 WITH live.

is there a way i can set up the ESX1 to use the sounds within LIVE
and be able to record the midi data?

a midi cable and a midi interface, if it's possible.

but first some googlage of ESX-1 usermanualage. someone needs to teach you to fish.

you can try to let be electribe the master
i heard this is the best way because if you
do it in the other way (live master esx1 slave)
it my occur that the electribes run quickly out of sync
my best time sync it was 2 minutes and i still got problems
with the sliced parts on the esx1 - but it look like its
playing sync - that was important for the builders i guess

there are a lot of mournings about this problem also in
the korg-forums - i checked out the the electribe in slve-mode
is a half note to late, so if you sequence in live you can
move the half note on the grid and may have a synced part
but youl will have still issues with the appregiator

I think that all of the elektribes primarily use NRPN

how do i check the routing?
do i need to change any of the note numbers on the esx?

I would try first to master the SX by ableton.
for that you need to find your external instrument device.
there you can route if the audio should go throug ableton
or not and wich midi channels u use to control

on electribe you need to be in slave-mode and you need to look
if all midi-message can go through. There is a section under Midi
look like 00x0 or xx00. Check your electribe-manual for midi.
0 means channel open - if all channels are open it should defenatyl
work to start the electribe with ableton.

NRPN is NO with MidiOX - othewise your synthparts will be the only 2 fully asighable midichannels

i use my emx with live, without the external instrument device (my laptop would not have sufficient cpu for smooth use of it) so it outputs audio to a mixer, but it is connected via midi to the computer using a midisport 1x1.this way you can either record midi loops in live to better manage them and make them play the esx, or sequence something on the esx, recording the midi notes in live, play the notes via a pad ( but the nrpn implementation isa bit of a suffering, now i have a template on the trigger finger that controls drum pitches and levelsbut creating it was a pain in the a**);or (as i mainly do) use the sequencer to sequence any vst or external synths (in my case a virus a). and this last use is fantastic!having the good emx/esx sequences applied to the great sounds of the virus instead that to the crappy "almost-synths" they mount is one of the bigger joys all this midi-controlled stuff gave me in last months..

at last u cant do tricky notestuff - can you

for example the thing 1/32 notes is not possible with the emx when you sequence a virus with it
what would be a big loss and even no chords ?

I use Live as the master and the ESX1,EMX1 and KP3 as slaves and they can run for hours without problem...my soundcard is a RME Multiface (for the midi out)

the esx and emx uses cc for synth parts, but all 10 drum parts are NRPN only for every knob
