APC40 + Bome MT, Almost there!

So, I managed to use BOME's MT to intercept and "swallow" APC40s midi messages.
I'm using the left half of the grid as navigation: Arrow up, left, down, right, Command, and QWERTY things.
But how do I get BOME's to provide LED feedback BACK to the APC?
a la this fuckin guy, who's a genius work sold me the APC and I can't manage to crack.

There was just a post on what you needed to send in order to get the LED's to light up, and in which color. Check the monome/max boards...

Umm, it's pretty easy, in that all you have to do is send note values corresponding to your desired LED state.
1= Solid Green
2= Blinky Green
3= Solid Amber
4= Blinky Amber
5= Solid Red
6= Blinky Red
(I may have mixed something up here, as I don't have mine to look at right this moment but this should get you going)
Everything else is solid green.

I gotta apologize, I'm new to MIDI mapping for performance use.
Does this require MAX?
When you say send note value, do you mean from Ableton or from the APC? And how to go about this?
Thanks so much guys!!

Gonna do some hardcore homework. I'll get back to you when I hit a wall.
You guys are making this so much fun.
See you soon.

Just downloaded the max runtime and the monomulator for the APC40 and...
Holy shit...what have I gotten into?
Can you explain where I could even START to program a function to provide LED feedback from Live to the APC40 as per the video above?

lol
Start with the manual and some online tutorials. Surely you sort of knew what you were getting into before you dropped that cash on the APC?

I mean this with absolutely no sarcasm.
There's a "manual" that explains how to program the customized functionality of the APC in that video?

I mean, the rerouting stuff he pulls off.
I managed to use the grid matrix for navigation as he did, (although I haven't figured out how turns the presets on and off, particularly with two buttons - the shift and clip stop)
However, In order for the APC to receive LED feedback for my new "navigation" function, Semuta says I need to "send note values".
Is this through the monomulator max patch? Can this be achieved with Bome's MT?
Timothy, can you point me in the right direction?

I mean the doc's for Max. Once you understand the basics of that, this will all come to you... but Max is overkill, you can do all that with Bomes I believe.
Sending note values is a piece of piss with Bomes, thats what it DOES, it creates and sends midi

. Maybe read the manual for Bomes on how to send midi notes to your application.
Even better, email the dude who made the video and ask him for the bomes patch.

Sexcellent. Gonna have a crack at this. Will report back.

Right, sorry. I figured that since you were doing stuff with Bome's, you would know what the note values meant.
I think that the previous poster that mentioned a manual for Bome's is sending you in the right direction.
You'll need to familiarize yourself with the very most basic concepts of midi communication including "Notes" and "CC's" and "Velocity" and "Values".
When you push a dark button on the grid matrix, it's sending a "Note" "On" to the computer. If you press it again, it sends an "Off". Use Bome's to look at the difference between pressing a dark button and a lighted one.
In the numeric string for the button, at the end of the string is a value that will look like 7F. In Hex, this is 127. You send back different numbers here to manipulate the LEDs. You'll also need to understand how to convert back and forth between decimal and hex.

Check.
I guess the question now is routing. You're suggesting I light the APC by sending mIdi to Ableton? I'll keep chipping away, messing with things. I'm almost there, man. Btw, you are the fucking best.
Will report back.

I am manipulating lights by having bome's send manipulated midi back to the APC. If you are swallowing info headed for those buttons, you can stop the midi info, you can replace the info entirely, or create rules to modify the info, but you'll be sending modified or wholly created midi out from bome's to the APC.

What are your midi routig settings in Live and the MT. How would you send midi back to the APC without changing routing settings to send to the apc?
