Hello all,

Cirque du Soleil's LOVE show is currently seeking a sound engineer with Ableton Live experience .
This is an hourly, full-time (40 hours/week) position in Las Vegas beginning in August 2009.

NOTE #1 - This position is classified under the Hotel/Casino structure for payroll and health & welfare benefits. If you are considered for a position, you will be required to participate in all of the Hotel/Casino selection processes including a background security check and drug/alcohol testing.

NOTE #2 - Cirque du Soleil cannot process immigration paperwork for this position therefore candidates must have legal authorization to work in the United States.

The job description is as follows:

Audio Technician - Playback

Reporting to the Head of Audio, the Audio Technician - Playback is responsible for working as part of the audio team to install, maintain, and operate audio, video and communications equipment in a safe and consistent manner for LOVE.

Specific Job Functions:

* Operate and maintain digital audio workstations and music software on both Mac and PC systems, including ProTools, Ableton Live, and various digital audio and MIDI interfaces
* Operate, program and maintain digital audio consoles for backstage monitoring
* Maintaining and updating music files for artist rehearsals
* Perform preventive maintenance routines, data backup and archiving for electronic equipment and large quantities of digital audio files
* Perform music playback cue track for rehearsals and shows, and communicate with other show tracks in a live performance environment
* Perform other tasks and projects as assigned to you by the Head of Audio.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess the following:

* At least two years of experience with digital audio workstations such as Ableton Live or ProTools for audio/music production or post-production
* At least two years of experience with digital or analog mixing consoles, in a live show or recording studio environment
* Operational knowledge of audio/music software, computer troubleshooting, networking protocols and hardware interconnection on both Mac and Windows operating systems
* Familiarity with Max/MSP or JazzMutant Lemur and basic knowledge of object-oriented computer programming would be considered an asset.

I'm a stagehand in vegas were I have lived for 28 years now, I can say, that this job is a great one and if I was qualified, I would take it myself..... I'm the lighting type though.... Living here is not bad at all, just stay away from the gambling and you will be fine!!

I have been working on the LOVE show since the beginning in 2005, and had the pleasure to work closely with Sir George Martin and Giles Martin, who won 2 Grammys on the soundtrack to this show, in the process of using the original multitracks of the Beatles masters.

This is an excellent position for the properly qualified candidate, offering a guaranteed income with one of the best benefits packages in the industry, on a show guaranteed to run for at least another decade. These positions open up very rarely to external candidates, and myself and my colleagues who are also raising families continue to appreciate the opportunity.

GigaStudio was in use at one time, as described in the Keyboard article. Ableton Live 8 and Sampler are now the primary audio software used for live performance.

wow, 8 and sampler doing LOVE daily. Keep us posted please. Or whomever takes the gig.

My "get 8" meter is a little more intrigued.
