Hi all,
is there a way to have Live keep the windows of VST instruments open even when the corresponding track is not selected? I am trying to accomplish this on two Live versions: Live 8 and Live 7 Lite.
Usually the VST instrument window closes when I select a track other than the one which is occupied by the VST instrument.

yes there is:

go to Live's preferences,select look/feel page,and disable "auto-hide plug-in windows"

I know this topic has been dead for a long time but I am having a similar problem that is really frustrating. I am using Automap and every time I click on Automap's window to edit the template my plugin disappears. I need the plugin to be visible while I am editing the template in Automap.

Is there a way to keep the plugin visible when a different program other than Ableton is selected?

I have the "Auto-Hide Plug-In Windows" preference set to off. As well I am using Automap 4.1b6 and I can't remember if I had the same problem in Automap 3.
