Hi,

I'm trying to figure how to use my midi controller to tweak knobs in my softsynths. As far as I can tell, I need the track midi monitor "on" instead of auto. But as soon as I switch it on, I can't hear the synth playback. I can only hear the synth playback if I actually hit the record button for the track. What to do?

It seems this is the solution. Is there a way to arm a track for recording (session view) without actually recording? I did it last night, but it was hit and miss. Usually when I armed the track it would automatically start recording a midi clip. But I managed to one time arm the track and not record, but I can't remember how I did it. I think I'm missing something really simple here.
