Anyone here tried using the OHM 64? APC has created quite a scare and looks like support from Akai sucks.

Ok i can not give enough props to this company. I have suggested two features: switch buttonpresets via midi, and to design so that you lights is off in a pattern. like this video when he is taling about the drumracks thing:
3.10

and the first is taken care of and they are looking into the lighting thingy now. What an amazing company!
I can not wait to get my hands on this baby!

Can you explain how long it took to set up the Ohm 64 to clip scenes in live, the encoders to control efx and faders to control the rest. How do you know which clip is active and otherwise (since there is only 1 color on the led)
As I understand APC works right out of the box (or atleast it is supposed to) while the Ohm requires some 'formatting' to live. ow good is your experience with Ohm? in the live midi profile are you setting up Ohm as a general controller?

hi,
It allows you to talk to the installed software. MIDI msg can be forwarded as it lights up the keys to make communication easier.

It works just like any other midicontroller... And when a clip is playing it sends a note on message to the ohm so the button that is mapped to that clip lights up. Also the clip thats gonna start on next quantize number is lighting.. That schouldnt be a problem. its you who just pressed the button... pay attension

Yeah it lights up when you launch a clip from the ohm or from the computer. The only thing i cannot figure out is the cut buttons on either side of my crossfader. they both light up with i fade to the right, but none to the left? anyone else? it seems that live is sending midi to it only for one side?

After picking up the slack in the last couple of weeks, I'm back to using my Livid Block with Live; it works a charm (as you'd expect).
I'm working quite simply, and treating Live's session view like a giant bank of one-shot samples so everything is played live (ala edison/Deadalus etc) - 64 buttons, 64 sounds. There is one 'page' set up to control eight clips in an _mlr-style using follow actions. I tried to get the knobs to automap (using a controller script) but between me and the Livid guys, it wouldn't play nice with Live 7, so everything is 'hard mapped' using Apple+M.
All in all, it's a great controller and perfect for what I'm doing right now. There is talk for proprietary control (a clip selection rectangle like the APC) but I don't think it's any more than talk right now.

I think this thing looks badass. I am shocked that it is all powered by a usb. That just leads me to wonder why in the world is the apc 20 have to be plugged into the wall. Hats off to the designer and I like the look of their new software as well.
